The exception is that now countries also export surplus production. There are nations with extraordinary infrastructure and resources to produce a certain commodity. They produce them many a times over their own requirements and export the excess production. In our times, this practice is quite common,as many countries have gone easy with trade duties and taxes. With the world slowly moving towards free trade and free market, the import export activity will only see rise and hence the need of reliable export management software solutions. Microsoft releases Internet Explorer 9 browser

Friday, March 18, 2011

At 9:00 p.m. PDT Monday (0400 UTC Tuesday), Microsoft rolled out the first stable Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) release, available in 39 languages, for Windows Vista and Windows 7. Internet Explorer is the most used web browser, responsible for 56% of webpage hits. The new version adds support for new technologies with relation to the HTML5 specification and several feature changes. The browser was released as a beta with a campaign promoting the benefits of HTML5.

It includes support for SVG and the HTML5 canvas, audio, and video tags. It has a failing Acid3 score of 95/100, below Mozilla Firefox 4.0’s 97/100, rating and the 100/100 in Google Chrome 10. The program is the first of its series not to run on Microsoft Windows XP. It includes a redesigned layout of the address bar and the ability to pin sites to the taskbar on Windows 7, along with several minor improvements.

The browser received mixed reviews. “IE9 as a Consumer Browser — Not Worth It,” Jason Mick, DailyTech, concluded. A study by Which? on Tuesday showed that IE9’s Tracking Protection Lists, an optional anti-tracking feature, may mislead users. “We’re disappointed with the way these lists work, and feel consumers who install multiple lists could be left with a false sense of security.” Dr. Rob Reid, Which? Policy senior advisor, said.

In a more positive review, a PC Magazine reviewer said that the positives of the new browser outweighed the negatives, and it is “a major improvement over its predecessor.”

The announcement comes after the company launched a campaign to get Internet Explorer 6 usage down to 1%. Microsoft delayed the Japanese release “to reduce load on network bandwidth at such a critical time” with reference to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan this past Friday.

Garuda Indonesia Flight 200’s pilot’s marital problems may have affected judgement

Thursday, October 25, 2007

A new theory has emerged as in to why the pilot of Garuda Indonesia Flight 200 attempted to land at a hugely excessive speed, despite 15 automated warnings he was flying too quickly and the co-pilot’s call for a ‘go-around‘ procedure to be performed. 21 people were killed in the March 7 crash of the Boeing 737-400 passenger jetliner.

Stephanus Geraldus, head of the Garuda pilots association, said that problems at home and a lack of sleep may have affected Marwoto Komar’s judgement. The news comes as Indonesian authorities announce they are pressing ahead with a possible prosecution.

The final report into the disaster, released on Monday, found that Komar, 45, had exhibited what was described as a “fixation” to land the plane, resulting in the excessively fast approach.

“If you look at his long flying experience, it’s impossible that he would try to land at that speed,” Captain Geraldus said, adding that marrital problems with wife Norma Andriani, a former air hostess, were “common knowledge”. This was backed up by Dudi Sudibyo, an analyst at Angkasa magazine (translated: ‘Airspace’).

“I understand he was arguing with his wife until late that night,” said Sudibyo, who went on to express concern at the lack of addressal of potential mental problems on the part of the pilot in the report. Sudibyo is himself a licensed pilot.

Lack of sleep may also have contributed. Both Komar and Gagam Rochmana, the flight’s co-pilot, reported for duty at 4:30 a.m., with the flight departing Jakarta for Yogyakarta as scheduled at 6 a.m. “What I want to know now is: why he didn’t report that lack of sleep and ask to be shifted to the next flight, or maybe he felt extremely confident he could fly – overconfident,” Sudibyo specualted. The report did not find any explicit evidence that they were unfit to fly, but did comment that “they did not provide the investigation with information about (their) activities during the 72 hours prior to commencing duty”.

Police officials have commented that a prosecution is likely with the only personnel required to complete the case against the pilot and co-pilot being expert witnesses, and that the pilots had been grounded since the accident. “We’re looking to prosecute under criminal negligence causing death and serious injury,” Inspector-General Adiwinoto said.

“We need witnesses who can prove there was negligence, and since this was an aviation matter, that could be someone from the National Safety Transportation Committee, or it could also be a medical doctor because of the deaths and injuries.

“We have been proceeding with this investigation all along, but we needed enough preliminary evidence, which we now do have, with the report that says, yes, there was human negligence.” He also said that the airline may itself be prosecuted for failing to provide necessary training to the flight crew. This new development comes at the same time as six Garuda Boeing 737-400s are grounded for failure to comply with import regulations.

Water Safety Tips For Dogs

Does your dog like to swim? It’s a great way for your dog to cool off during the hot summer months, and it provides good exercise. Just make sure Fido stays safe. Here are some tips from a veterinarian Columbia, MD:

Supervise closely.

Don’t let your dog swim alone, whether it’s in the backyard pool or in the ocean. It’s always safest to go into the water with your dog and provide support. This is especially important if your pooch isn’t an incredibly strong swimmer.

Don’t let Fido drink the water.

Your dog can get sick if they ingest a lot of chlorinated pool water or salty ocean water. Provide your pet with plenty of cool, fresh water instead. It’s also good for hydration, of course!

Rinse out the coat.

Once your dog’s swimming session is done, be sure to rinse out their coat with water from the garden hose or tub. You don’t want to leave chlorine, salt, or sand in the fur, as it could irritate your dog’s skin. Would you like more tips on swimming safely with your pet? We’re here to help. Wikinews interviews Steve Burke, U.S. Democratic Party presidential candidate

Sunday, December 13, 2015

This article is a featured article. It is considered one of the best works of the Wikinews community. See Wikinews:Featured articles for more information.

Macomb, New York Councilman Steve Burke took some time to speak with Wikinews about his campaign for the U.S. Democratic Party’s 2016 presidential nomination.

Burke, an insurance adjuster and farmer, was elected councilman in Brookhaven, New York in 1979. He left the town after being accused and found not guilty of bribery in the 1980s. Since 1987 he has served as Macomb councilman off-and-on and currently holds the post. From 1993 to 1996 and 1999 to 2002 he worked as chairman of the Democratic Party of St. Lawrence County, New York. Among his many political campaigns, Burke unsuccessfully sought the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination in 1992 and recently attempted to run for U.S. Congress in 2014 but too many of his ballot petition signatures were found invalid. Burke filed with the Federal Election Commission to run for president in the 2016 election on September 18, 2015 and has qualified for the first-in-the-nation New Hampshire Primary.

With Wikinews reporter William S. Saturn?, Burke discusses his political background, his 2016 presidential campaign, and his policy proposals.

Horse racing in NSW, Queensland cancelled indefinitely

Tuesday, August 28, 2007

Thoroughbred horse racing has been cancelled indefinitely in the Australian states of New South Wales and Queensland due to an outbreak of Equine Influenza. An Australia-wide ban on the movement of horses, donkeys and mules which was due to expire on Wednesday has been extended until Friday. NSW and Queensland have extended their bans indefinitely.

So far the virus only appears to have infected horses in NSW and Queensland, with 51 confirmed cases and another 400 suspected. So far all those infected appear to be horses used for recreational purposes and not thoroughbred race horses.

Despite the bans on racing and horse movements, track work will recommence in NSW and Queensland today.

It had been feared yesterday that four race horses at Randwick Racecourse in Sydney had been struck down by the virus, but the horses later tested negative to the virus. If an outbreak were to occur at Randwick it could affect up to 700 race horses stabled there.

The outbreak comes at a bad time for the industry, as it prepares for the lucrative spring racing season in Sydney and Melbourne. The AUD$1 million Golden Rose event at Rosehill has been cancelled, although it is expected that Melbourne’s spring racing carnival will resume on Saturday as no cases of the flu have been seen in Victoria.

Racing Victoria has also said the Melbourne Cup will go ahead as planned despite the outbreak, even if no interstate or international horses can attend.

Despite fines of up to $44,000 and 12 months imprisonment in NSW there have been reports that more than 100 horse owners have been caught moving their horses. The NSW Primary Industries Minister Ian Macdonald, said it was “absolutely vital that no-one moves a horse in this state”.

“We will be working with police to ensure horses are at a standstill,” he said.

The racing bans have cost gaming companies Tabcorp and Tattersall’s millions, with Tabcorp losing $65 million in revenue on the weekend. Tabcorp expects to lose around $150 million in turnover this week. Tattersall’s has also said it expects to lose around $2 million in revenue per week due to the outbreak. Investors reacted to the news, slashing 3 percent of the price of Tattersall’s shares and over 4 percent of those of Tabcorp.

Microsoft to track legal marijuana with new partner Kind Financial

Sunday, June 19, 2016

Microsoft announced on Thursday they are partnering with KIND Financial to help governments track the production and distribution of legal marijuana. Kind Financial, a California-based start-up company, began selling its Agrisoft Seed to Sale software three years ago. Microsoft is admitting Kind’s software on the Government portion of its Azure cloud service.

Although Kind Financial CEO David Dinenberg stressed to The Guardian they “absolutely do not touch the plant”, his company does business with growers and distributors of marijuana, as well as the governments that regulate it. State law in twenty-five US states — but not US federal law — has legalized marijuana, whether medicinally or for recreational use. Kimberly Nelson, Microsoft executive director of state and local government solutions, said they expect significant demand for technology to help states make sure cannabis distribution within their state is done according to their laws.

Kind also provides kiosks similar to automated tellers (ATMs) to facilitate marijuana transactions in dispensaries. The distribution of marijuana is often done only with cash or through machines like the ones Kind offers since many banks in the United States shy away from the marijuana industry entirely. Microsoft is not interacting with this part of Kind’s operations, however.

Microsoft and Kind will apply for contracts with state governments for their software. Currently, they have applied to Puerto Rico, a US territory, where medical marijuana has recently been made legal. BioTrackTHC, a company similar to Kind Financial, already has contracts with Washington, New Mexico, and Illinois.

Dinenberg said his company’s partnership with Microsoft is a major step in advancing the legitimacy of cannabis-related businesses.

Homemade Dog Food How To Make Tasty Dog Food Quickly

By Mike Lee

Has the recent spate of dog food recalls gotten you paranoid about what actually goes into your best buddy’s furry body? Wondering how to make homemade dog food so you can say goodbye forever to commercial, and often harmful, ones? Here are some suggestions on how to make homemade dog food so that both you and your canine pal are worry-free, and not to mention, toxin-free. It’s a great way to bond, too.

First of all, consult your veterinarian before making any kind of switch. Know also that it will take time for your dog to get used to the new menu so introduce your homemade dog food gradually, beginning with just a tiny fraction along with the commercially bought food he is accustomed to. Then slowly decrease the commercial dog food as you increase the food you prepared yourself, until the former is completely eliminated from your pet’s diet.

To ensure that your dog gets balanced nutrition for optimum health, give your pet a mixture of 40% meat, 30% vegetables, and 30% starch. Organs like the heart, the liver, and kidneys are especially healthy for your dog.

Ground eggshells are likewise nutritious and can be blended in with his meal. A popular mix is carrot, brown rice, and ground turkey. You may also replace the turkey with ground beef, add some brewer’s yeast, and you have a whole other menu right there. Variety is good.

Buy fresh meats like lean beef, stewing meats, boneless steak or roast, boneless stewing lamb, shank, leg of lamb or butt. For poultry, buy boneless, skinless chicken breast, fillet, or thigh.

Besides rice, pasta and oatmeal are excellent sources for starch. Other than carrots, choice veggies are fresh pumpkin, squash, sweet potatoes, yams, beets, parsnips, broccoli, zucchini, and cucumber. Chop them up into tiny pieces before serving.

Steer clear of peas, beans, chard, tomatoes, and bell peppers as they may bring about digestive problems or damage red blood cells. If you must use garlic, a natural flea repellant, make sure it is cooked and use it only sparingly as raw or spoiled garlic can be poisonous. Again, when in doubt, consult your vet. Avoid onions at all costs.

You can either serve the food in their natural state, or cook them lightly in a pan to prevent loss of vitamins and nutrients, so the meat’s natural juices are retained. If the veggies are a tad too hard, steam them lightly beforehand. Just don’t forget to cool the homemade dog food first before serving.

Prepare enough to last your dog two servings a day for three days. Do not exceed three days as the food will no longer be fresh by then. A good way to estimate the amount is to multiply your adult dog’s body weight by 0.4. The result is more or less the number in ounces he should be eating in a day. Once prepared, keep the food refrigerated when not in use.

Pretty simple, isn’t it? Just follow these tips and learn how to make homemade dog food on your own. Your dog will love you all the more for it.
