Sonic The Hedgehog Games: Sonic Drift

Sonic Drift is a kart racing game that was built on the Sega Game Gear platform. The game was officially released on 8th March 1994. The main characters in the game are Sonic, Tails, and Eggman. To win the game, the player must collect the most rings by racing In the track. The game also have several power ups which player can accumulate. SEGA initially planned to released the game in Japan. Due to the popular demand, SEGA decided to make it available to other markets around the world.

Sonic Drift features a song theme called Sonic – You Can Do Anything. The game is a Japanese song that features in other Sonic games such as Sonic CD, Sonic Drift 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

There are a number of Chaos GPs that the players must obtain. The Chaos GPs which must be collected are green emerald, yellow emerald, and red emerald. Every Chaos GPs level consists of 6 tracks. The tracks have the same design as the tracks that are used in the Sonic the Hedgehog game. You will have to race with your rivals in order to win the game. You can use the acceleration and brake options to race in the track. If you drive the vehicle outside of the asphalt track, you will slow down significantly. This is because the sidelines are filled with many obstacles that designed to slow you down. There are a number of rings that you can collect in the track. To collect the rings, you should press on the upward button in the directional keypad.

Once you completed the tracks, you will be assigned with points. Each player will be assigned with a different point based on the place which he achieves in the racing game.

Sonic Drift has 6 levels including Green Hill, Marble, Spring Yard, Labyrinth, Star Light, and Scrap Brain. Green Hill is a racetrack in Sonic Drift. The layout of the game is different in each chaos GP. You will find 4 rings in each of the Chaos GP levels. In marble, there are 11 rings which you can collect. Spring Yard has the same design as the Spring Yard Zone from the classic game. There are 13 rings which you can collect in Spring Yard zone.

Players who had accumulated two rings will be able to carry out the Special Move. You can lose the ring if you get hit by a collision. There are a number of power ups including red monitor, blue monitor and springs. The red monitor will give a speed boost to the player. The player will rush down the track. The Blue Monitor will makes the player becomes invincible. The Springs power up enable the player to jump into the sky. If you use the spring, you will be launched into the air at a high speed.

The four characters in Sonic Drift is Sonic, Tails, Dr. Robotnik and Amy. Sonic drives the Cyclone vehicle. He is able to perform speed dash. The speed dash offers the same effect as the red monitor power up. The Tails uses the MTP-01 Whirlwind vehicle. If you play as Tail, you can perform the jump over special move. Tails is slower than other character. Eggman is featured driving the race vehicle Egg Typhoon. He can perform the Drop mine special move. Amy can slow down the speed of other vehicles by using toss heart special move. Amy is seen driving in the vehicle breeze.
